“It’s not that we got all political,” said Trey Parker, one of the show’s creators. “It’s that politics became pop culture.”
Since the Trump episodes began, said Mr. Stone, who was speaking from New York, strangers have repeatedly approached him to praise the show, and, he added, they are not the sort of people who would normally watch “South Park.”
Mr. Parker, speaking from Colorado, said he had been getting a different reaction.
“I’m in my little bubble here in Colorado, where everyone’s going, ‘When are you going to bring the boys back and stop doing all this political stuff?’” he said.
The creators began laughing, and both said the show had entered its “disco era.” Mr. Parker said they would eventually get “sick of” Washington and the retinue of Trump characters. But not quite yet.
“You know, next year will be different,” he said. “If there’s one thing we know, it is that our show will be a lot longer than theirs.
“So,” he continued, “we just got to do this for now.”

I like it how in NY a bunch of non-South Park fans are praising the show being all political, whereas in Colorado people want the boys back.

(Remember when they were giving out stuff during the season? Miss those times, but I don't blame them for not using Twitter as much. Tumblr is a headscratcher though.)
For sure. I know they’ve tried to transition a lot of the engagement to the official discord. I know people involved with that whole thing and it’s had some ups and downs. I still wish it was more public than a server though, and even there its not like staff is directly sharing anything beyond what’s being put on their public socials.
Stan suddenly being 9, along with him being at a nursing home now is Trey & Matt trying to hint to us fans that they’re developing dementia.
Next episode, Stan and Kyle will face the camera and say “anyone willing to let us live at your house instead of a crusty nursing home?”
Lmao yeah like wdym stan is 9 we literally had a whole 2 part episode about him being ten. I cry when I hear Landslide play on the radio and you’re gonna pull this? Say the fans (ie wiki) help them keep things straight and still say he’s 9??? Did ya check???????
What year/era of the South Park fandom do you miss the most or hold the most good memories/nostalgia towards?
Personally the 2013-2016 era holds a lot of love from me. I really enjoyed a lot of the art that came from that time, I had a lot of really good friends, and while there was the typical fandom drama I felt like generally most people got along. I really enjoy seasons 17-19 especially for the fan response– even the first half of s20 before it all went to shit. Season 19 in particular had so much content we were making, partially driven by txc airing, but even before that it was a huge hit. We had so much interaction from sps (I miss the official blog, forums, stuck in 4th grade, commentaries, behind the scenes tweets in s19 and 20). I think also my bias is that was some of my early fandom years, and tumblr was much more active, so it was easier to feel like we were having a good time.
Recently I don’t feel like theres as many active people. Still really good people and great artists, but much fewer. And I refuse to use other websites because last time I had a Twitter account I nearly killed myself, and I also find outside of tumblr there tends to be a much obviously younger gathering of people than I’d like to interact with. Not saying no kids are on tumblr but the maturity of the company there seems to be lacking. Show content the last 5 years has been few and far between, and this season’s schedule also leaves a lot of fandom hype and activity behind. There’s no more forums (even before it’s formal death last year, it had declined so severely after some of the important mods left), no behind the scenes or commentaries, no updates from sps staff (publically. I only get to hear some secondhand whispers). It’s definitely not the best time to be a south park fan, but I’m hoping things will come around.
*rumors about South Park coming to Fortnite* We know they're going put Randy in it. The question is, is it going to be JUST him or are we going to have the kids running around in mechs like Bart?
No idea, but from what I understand the collab is all but confirmed through a few different sources. I don’t play fortnite to know how that all works when they partner up so idk exactly what it will entail
